Description

The longest wooden pier in Europe is one of the most popular Polish recreational and relaxation facilities, an undeniable showcase of the city of Sopot. It consists of two parts - land and wooden. There is a marina at the end of the pier.

The land part is the Kuracyjny Square with an area of 20 m², where there is a historic fountain, a band shell, a lighthouse with a viewing point and stands with amber and souvenirs from Sopot.

The wooden, walking part includes the main pier, 511.5 m long, side decks (the so-called spur) and lower decks, which enable the docking of passenger ships and yachts. Walkers and tourists also willingly visit this place for health reasons, because the iodine concentration in the places furthest out to sea is twice as high as on land. The current shape of the pier was given in 1927 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the city. In the years 1989-91, a reinforced concrete head was added to protect the main pier.
